Eat the Vote - What is American Food?

What is American food anyway? The most popular answer is burgers, hotdogs and apple pie but apple pie is really European, so might be burgers and hotdogs really all we must offer? In Texas they'll fry anything, pile some batter onto it and throw it right into a pot of grease and a Texan will tell you it's the best they've ever had. Allow it to be easy to eat while walking and wrap it in paper along with a New Yorker wouldn't much care whether it were only a stick of dough with "red sauce" so long as you sell it from the cart in the pub for less than $5.00 they'll claim that no city on the planet makes it better! Put anything inside a tortilla and a Californian will eat it, refer to it as Cajun and Louisiana assists it with sweat tea, slap some BBQ sauce on and Tennessee will claim it originated from that state; does the united states even have one universal type of food we are able to call our very own? In short, not necessarily.

American food is mostly divided by region, similar to voting the north east differs from the mid west differs from the south differs from the west coast continues to be a little diverse from the the west; from sea to shining sea no one will give you a solution that doesn't very by state or at best by time zone. We now have southern food, that is most definitely a united states original but that's not even the same in most southern states. In Texas (which may be debated since the south or even the south west) you will find the original fajita in Kyle TX and hill country BBQ Brisket, in Louisiana you receive Cajun food, soul food and specially in New Orleans you're blessed with Creole. In Tennessee it's BBQ pork, in Virginia it's Ham, in Georgia it's grits...is there even one specific southern food? Sweat Tea obviously, country gravy maybe but many southern states possess a difficult time agreeing what good, quality, American southern meals are. In the northeast you've Maryland crab cakes and clam chowder, within the mid west you've Chicago hotdogs and corn about the cob, in the north west you receive Washington clams as well as in the the west it is green chili (chili verde), what exactly is American food?

American food, like America is really as diverse and varied since the streets of recent York City. Most of us have kinds of people and all sorts of kinds of foods, inside a country as huge as the United States using the freedom of preference from who your President would be to what colour of braces you would like your food to obtain stuck inside it would almost be un-American to narrow it down making people agree with one specific kind of food. Immediately with free speech we Americans have a free press and also the freedom to select by region, state or individual person what type of food we call our very own. Though most simply say "fast food" being an immediate reaction to such a question I beg it's not so. We're not just a Junk food Nation since the movie suggest, we're not void of culture and that we are not all war mongering, self centered obese people in ball caps either. What we should are is really a wide Varity of things, to complex and diverse to become narrowed down into one classification. We're the items in a melting pot, the look of a collage, we're a sponge; we're America and nearly nothing universally conforms us to the neighbors apart from the freedoms we share, not really the foods we eat.
