Can Eating Too Late at Night Lead to Obesity and Depression?

People eat late into the evening for a number of reasons. For a lot of, the reasons are practical like missing the evening meal or needing an easy snack to remain awake. For other people, it is all about desire. There's a wide spectrum recently night eating, from completely healthy to dangerous for your health and life.

Most people have heard the mantra, "No eating after 7 p.m.", but this is not necessarily true. People say this to curb night time snacking, although not all of this snacking isn't good. What really matters may be the amount of calories you intake every day. So if you have had a busy day and barely eaten anything, go on and have something healthy after 7 p.m. to complete your day.

Unfortunately, most night time eating isn't hungry kind. Many people mistake it for hunger, but when they would stop and think, "Am I personally hungry?" they'd discover that they aren't. When this occurs, it is almost always a craving that's the driving force behind the eating.

This is unfortunate, because within this mode people often eat stuff that are salty or full or sugar or carbohydrates. This is where it begins to negatively affect your wellbeing. Certain age ranges tend to make a habit using this, particularly in college. There are numerous reasons for this. One of these is just that they're following the crowd. College towns would be the only places I understand of where every junk food place comes complete at 2 a.m.

Another reason young adults tend to consume a lot late at night may be the package syndrome. This is where you take a seat to study, read or watch television having a bag of chips or perhaps a box of cookies. You mindlessly eat while performing the main task, and before very long you've eaten the whole package. This will happen any time throughout the day of course, but it's more prevalent during the night.

Late night eating takes an ugly turn when it might be a disorder. People, who are suffering from Night Eating Syndrome, or NES, often also provide symptoms of depression and are afflicted by obesity. NES is classified like a sleep disorder, because sometimes people eat during sleep and have no recollection from it in the morning. Sleeping pills for example Ambien have been recognized to cause this type of night eating.

So, you should get your night time eating in check, so that you can experience a restful sleep not really a fitful, binge-eating one.
